Georgia Passes New Anti-Spam Law
The praise is rolling in from various points, but especially from Georgia-based Internet and technology companies, for Georgia's new anti-spam law, but not everyone is happy. Among the provisions in the law that cause an offense to be treated as a felony include sending 10K or more messages in 24 hours, making $50K from the spam run or $1K from a single message, and using someone under 18 to send the spam. State Senator and Minority Whip David Adelman sounded a somewhat doubtful note, saying "when we pass this anti-spam law it won't stop spam, not one iota", rightly pointing out that most spam comes from somewhere else.
